The fad-diet-label is often used to condemn the paleo diet hinting that the diet does not have any merit. It's like calling a newly promoted branch manager a slut because obviously she used her sex appeal and not her brains to get the position. The paleo diet does have a fleshy appeal: grass-fed steaks, bacon, fatty fish, eggs. Suddenly meat is good for you. And apparently fat is important for your health, too. For years, we have been told that we seriously need to reduce meats and fats, and suddenly there is this diet flaunting it all in our faces. That hussy! Thinks it such a smart diet with its ancestral approach, and that humans have evolved to eat certain foods, although everyone knows cavemen died in their thirties. Duh! I won't give up my big gulp cup of soda beverage for that nonsense.
At times, I get the impression that some people believe that the human body is more special than those of other species. Just because we made it to the top of the food chain does not mean we can get away with everything. If I fed a cat Twizzlers some people would go so far as to call it animal cruelty because it is definitely bad for the cat. Feeding it cooked chicken breast would earn me more approval, although some might argue that I'm indulging the feline a bit. But somehow there is a higher defense barrier when you try to apply similar rules to humans: that there are indeed foods which make you thrive and that there are also foods which will make you feel like a cat on Twizzlers.
If you were able to answer most of the question with yes, then you're most likely fine. Go and eat in peace. But if most of your answers were no then you're stuck with a diet not good for you. It's like being stuck in an unhealthy relationship: How can we tell? If it's destructive, if people are unhappy if it makes them sick or harms them. Obviously things have to change. Maybe you do not have to break it off completely, just tweak a few things. Or you take your diet to be checked out by a nutritionist.
If paleo is not your type... of diet, that's alright. This blog is for folks who are interested in getting jiggy with the paleo diet or to see how they can improve their paleo relationship. It's not intended to diss people on other health/ whole-foods-diets.
We're cool 'aight? Everybody. Be. Cool ... and comment plzz! This is Lory from the 852, signing out. Peace.
