I must really thank Mikko from Four Sigma Foods who told me about Le Gall Raw Milk Butter. I do not like to sound like an overenthusiastic gangsta fan girl but this butter is da bomb! It tastes amazing and comes close to an home-made artisan butter I tried in Napa, California. Best grass-fed butter ever and worth the 38 honkis. Probably will have to offer MIkko my first-born now.
Another cheaper animal fat alternative especially for baking, cooking and frying is Kerrymaid lard. It's Irish so chances are good that the pork was pasture raised and fed. Animal fat is very stable and sating. Another plus is that Kerrymaid lard is not hydrogenated.
Heavy cream like Président is a bit pricey in Hong Kong. You might think HKD 86 is a rip-off. Normal price in other grocery stores is usually HKD 110-120. Yeah, I know. It's an outrage.
The same applies to Yasuda Raw Milk Yoghurt. I only got it because it was discounted. It tastes, creamy with a smooth tang, no added sugar. Doubt that it's grass-fed though.
Although I'm German I was never a big fan of sauerkraut. But Andre Laurent Sauerkraut is an exception due to its very pleasant mild taste. I have written a blog post about it already. Even goes well with poultry and shrimp. For real!
Australian Mix Mesclun Salad. It's fresh (unlike other cut salad consisting of 50% brown leaves mush). It's cheap for Hong Kong standards. What else do you want?
