Wow, it's almost April already and I'm running out on health product staples.

Good list of goodies. Bluebonnet looks like a high quality whey protein - good to know it's out there.

do you ever order collagen hydrolysate or raw honey from iHerb? Those two are on my regular shopping list as well.

Last question: what's the difference between the grape seed extract and oil of oregano? they both seem like pretty powerful anti-viral/bacterial/fungals, but not sure where to use one over the other. Or are they additive?

Hi Brock, yeah the Bluebonnet whey is very clean. The only ingredient I don't like in there is the lecithin derived from soy. But in comparison to all the other mystery whey powders out there that's a drawback I can live with.

Raw honey is delicious, but I don't use sweeteners that often. I still have a pack of coconut sugar and it's crystallized to a solid block now. How do you use collagen hydrolysate? I sometimes supplement with grass-fed gelatin which worked well for me.

As for grapefruit seed extract and oil of oregano, you're right both are pretty potent. I used grapefruit seed extract in my one-month stay in India because many traveling yoga teachers recommended it. And I'm proud to say I never suffered from an upset stomach in India. I prefer grapefruit seed extract over oil of oregano simply because of the fruity smell. While in India I used a few drops of grapefruit seed extract to soak fruits, vegetables, water bottles etc. I'd rather have them smell of grapefruit than oregano oil. So it's a matter of preference really.

As far as I remember, well-known biohacker bloggers like Ben Greenfield like to use both when comes to ingesting them to boost one's immune system.

Collagen Hydolysate can dissolve in cool water, whereas Gelatin needs to be dissolved in hot water. The gelatin can then make your liquid firm up like jello, where as CH cannot. They are basically the same amino acid profile, and similar to bone broth, except for those differences, so it's up to you which to use, and which is better for what you're making.

CH is pretty tasteless and dissolves well after a minute or so in water. I use a couple tablespoons in my morning concoction (a variation on bulletproof coffee, but with green tea instead and a couple other additions). Occasionally I'll mix 2 tbsp CH and 2 tbsp whey protein into a protein shake, but that's saved for the rare blowout workout day.

I'll have to try the GSE then to see if I like it better - glad you brought it up. Oil of Oregano has a pretty strong taste, so maybe GSE wins in that department.

I like using gelatin as thickener, and I did try to use it in a smoothie as well... Without dissolving it in hot water before hand. Let's say the result was a bit lumpy. Will definitely try CH. Which brand do you use? And is it grass-fed?

Bulletproof green tea? As in matcha paleo frappuccino? Any reason why you switched to green tea? I can imagine that it could taste good but can imagine how it could also go horribly wrong. This might be interesting for a friend of mine. She's trying to give up coffee. Mind to share the recipe? If yes, let me know if I may post it on the blog.

CH: I use the Great Lakes Gelatin - the green canister - which according to research at the Healthy Home Economist blog is grass fed. The CH fully dissolves, including in smoothies. If it's a little clumpy, you can use a spoon to smush the clumps and then give a bit more stir and it will dissolve.

I switched to Green Tea for the flavor, which is lighter and brighter and to cut down on the caffeine. Recipe to come separately.
