Rereading the last paragraph I realise that it almost sounds like an intro to a goodbye post. Like I have found peace and was herewith denouncing the civilized world and the not so always civilized blogosphere.
But nah. Like in so many blogs this is going to be an apology for missing in action and therefore barely any action on the blog for almost three months. So we almost reached the end of January 2015 and you might wonder what on earth could have kept me from writing and adding content to my beloved paleo blog baby.
India happened. As some of you might recall, I went to India for the whole of November to deepen my understanding in Ashtanga yoga. And I dare say I was the only paleo yoga student when I arrived in Mysore, the capital of Ashtanga in the south of India. Until six hours later when I had my first delicious meal in India and took a break from being paleo.
I returned to Hong Kong in December and needed time to process all I took in. I felt like I learned a lot, made new connections a lot, fell off the paleo wagon a lot. I had to reconnect with Hong Kong life which was so different from the pace in Mysore. Reconnecting and bringing everything in alignment takes time. It was the holiday season and things slowed down a bit. I quickly got in touch with my friends and clients before everyone was off for the holidays.
Coinciding with the start of the new year I finally had some time to think about how to get fully back on that paleo wagon again and shed those few pounds my excesses in Indian cuisine have bestowed on me. I was seriously craving buttery dosas, idli, and coconut chutney for a month
As most of you know travel can be quite disruptive to one’s diet. Few days into January my sister arrived from Germany. After she recovered from jetlag we both flew to Manila to meet my parents and help them with official stuff at the German embassy. I was hoping 3 days would be enough to get everything done. What you quickly learn in the Philippines is that not many things happen on time. You should always leave a generous safety margin when planning things including lunch, dinner and toilet breaks. Things were a bit more loco than usual as the pope was about to touchdown in Manila the capital of the largest Catholic country in Asia. I brought some nuts, jerky and whey protein sachets in case we get stuck in traffic where you spend most of your time in Manila.
Our family left Manila early in the morning on the day the pope was supposed to arrive and we drove up north to my parents little farm near Baguio City. Being paleo from then on was quite easy. I mentioned before that the Filipino cuisine can be very paleo friendly.
We have now neatly caught up with the present. I’m back and have some paleo nuggets for you in store. Will be returning to Hong Kong in 2 days. See you there!
