
It's one of those typical hot and humid day in Hong Kong. Suddenly the guy in front of you breaks down. You rush over and what? Faint pulse? No pulse? The next check point is 5k away and you are the only help around.
That's a scary scenario . But it can happen any time and one cannot rely on ridiculous luck that a doctor is around at a time when every second counts.
Knowing how to apply first aid should be a basic skill which should be taught in schools before we get to the bees and birds lesson. Unfortunately it's not and when we witness a serious accident, all what most of us can do is call the ambulance and not to stand in the way.
It should not be so. The faster CPR or first aid is applied the higher the chances of survival and the lower the chances for long term damages to the brain. And the lower the chance that you wished you could have done more.
Try to get a group together to take part in an
1) Adult CPR course OR
2) First Aid Intro + Adult CPR course
at Hong Kong St. John's Ambulance in Mid-Levels.
You'll need 8-12 people to get a group together. Here are the details:
- Adult CPR
Duration: 3 hours
Language: English
Group fee: HKD 2040 (with 12 people it'll be HKD 170/ head)
- First Aid Intro + Adult CPR
Duration: 6 hours (can be done in 1 day or splitted in 2 days)
Language: English
Group fee: HKD 2640 (with 12 people it'll be HKD 220/head)
It is not much of an investment of time and money for such valuable knowledge. And you cannot put a price tag on ridiculous luck.... or a life.
